Listed Buildings

A A Bendon Construction has considerable experience with renovations for listed buildings. Monmouthshire has over 2,100 listed buildings. Most are listed Grade II but there are some properties in the county of national importance and they are Grade II* or Grade I. .

Planning applications will be required prior to any renovation project. There is considerably more control exercised over the design and build of extensions and old buildings which have been listed.

In conservation areas new designs should be in keeping with the character of the buildings adjacent and in the local area. In most cases traditional building forms are encouraged and modern designs will need to be of the highest quality. Andy Bendon uses traditional building materials to respect the local character. For instance natural slate and clay tiles are preferred. Plastic building materials such as UPVC will rarely be acceptable by the planning authorities.

Listed building work is individually overseen personally by Andy Bendon from the initial customer meeting, liasing with designers and architects ensuring that the project goes smoothly and is compliant with planning regulations.

Estimates and quotations for listed building work can be provided for a basic outline plan, comprehensive planning drawings or working with a full term contract.
